The Details:

 

The Havok Elektronix BK-1 is a hand-built analog distortion pedal rooted in a late-80s high-gain preamp design known for its raw, biting character. I re-engineered it with a ±9V internal supply for more headroom and dynamic response—no virtual ground, no tone-sag from a starved circuit.


Crank the Gain, leave Loud, High, and Shape at noon, and you’ll get that slight output drop common to certain vintage distortion and fuzz circuits. It’s a natural by-product of the passive tone network, and it keeps the sound raw, uncompressed, and organic. A recovery stage could have been added to boost the level, but that would’ve killed the magic. MAKE NOISE NOT MUSIC!
